Dr. Dugald McMillan, DMD, a respected endodontist and member of the Chattanooga and greater Alabama dental communities, has died, family members confirmed. He passed away peacefully, leaving behind a career defined by patient-centered care and professional excellence.
A second-generation dentist from Woodland, Alabama, McMillan earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Montevallo in 2005 and a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry in 2009. He began his career providing general dental care in New Hope, Alabama, where he served an underserved population.
McMillan later specialized in endodontics, returning to UAB for advanced training. He completed his Certificate in Endodontics in 2021 and served as chief resident during his residency, a role reflecting his leadership and commitment to the field.
Throughout his career, McMillan was actively involved in professional organizations, including the American Association of Endodontists, the American Dental Association, the Tennessee Dental Association, the Chattanooga Area Dental Society, and the Chattanooga Dental Study Group.
Colleagues and patients described McMillan as a skilled clinician known for his compassion and dedication. His work left a lasting impact on the dental community and on the patients he treated.
Outside of his professional life, McMillan was a devoted husband to his wife, Natalie, and a father to daughters Kate and Julia. He enjoyed outdoor activities, including mountain biking and water sports.
